I was lucky enough to be enrolled on the Be Extraordinary programme, and through this I was able to meet some amazing people from around the business, that I otherwise wouldn’t have met. I was also able to develop my skill set for both my job role here at Buy It Direct, and myself as a person. I am very grateful to have been able to be part of this programme, and learn things that I never would have without this opportunity.
Be Extraordinary was a really great opportunity to take time out of my busy day-to-day and focus on myself and my progression. I have never been on a development course before so went in very open minded and excited! The subjects covered were really insightful, my favorite part was exploring personality traits and how to work efficiently with different types of people. The course has provided valuable guidance on how I can develop my career and also the opportunity to take a step back and recognize the things I do well too!
After graduating in 2019, I joined Furniture123's lifestyle team. From
day one, I felt welcomed and trusted as part of the team. And since then, I've built
amazing relationships around the business to develop my career and experiences.
After a couple of months at BID, I was enrolled in its Be Extraordinary programme.
During this time, I learned many valuable skills, from presentation techniques to goal
setting. This has helped me grow within the company and work towards both the company's
and my personal goals.
I look forward to my next steps within the business.
It's refreshing to find a company that wants to invest in graduates
with great potential rather than experience. And I've been lucky enough to channel my
degree in Business Management into Account Management.
BID's Be Extraordinary programme was a breath of fresh air. It was nice to step away
from work responsibilities and assess our lives – personally and professionally. In each
session, I connected with amazing people in different business areas. This has allowed
me to understand the businesses' daily operations and give my customers the best
experience. In short, this was the support I needed to kick-start my career.
Joining Buy It Direct via the Be Extraordinary scheme allowed me to
learn valuable skills. We covered topics like presentation skills and mental health
awareness, and I use these learnings in my working career and day-to-day life.
While on the programme, I networked with people throughout the business. This, in turn,
helped me to integrate into the wider company with ease. The scheme has been a valuable
learning resource whilst at BID, and it continues to come in useful in many areas of my
job.
